Seven to finally air controversial gang drama Killing Time

Australian free-to-air broadcaster Seven Network is to launch controversial crime drama Killing Time, almost two years after it was originally delayed as a result of a series of related gangland trials that were in progress.

Seven Network acquired the ten part drama, which was produced by FremantleMedia Australia, from pay TV network TV1, marking one of the first pay dramas to be sold to a free-to-air broadcaster.

However, Seven Network was forced to delay its transmission of the series as a result of the legal proceedings. The series stars David Wenham as Andrew Fraser, a notorious Melbourne criminal defence lawyer, whose clients included cop killers and disgraced businessmen.

However, Fraser was part of a trial involving Peter Dupas, accused of the murder of Mersina Halvagis in Fawkner Cemetery in November 1997, thus forcing the commercial broadcaster to delay the series.
