MTV making a Spanish version of Jersey Shore

MTV is extending its Jersey Shore franchise to Spain with a new international version of the hit reality TV series, Gandia Shore.

Production has been greenlit on the new series, the latest international version of the US-originated show. A UK version of the show, Geordie Shore, has proved successful and French DTT broadcaster NT1, which is run by TF1, is also making a formatted version of the reality series.

The Spanish version will be shot in the party town of Gandia, one of the most popular beaches on the Valencia coast, and follow eight locally cast young people as they live, love and work.

It will be made by Magnolia, which has already worked with MTV, making the Spanish version of Pimp My Ride, known locally as MTV Tuning.

Gandia Shore is slated to debut this autumn.
