3net, Sky3D launch music series

US 3D broadcaster 3net and British 3D channel Sky 3D are to launch Nigel Godrich’s music series From The Basement.

This is the first time that the show, which originated as a web series, will be filmed in 3D.

From The Basement will launch in the US in July on 3net, which is the joint venture between Sony, Discovery and Imax, followed by its online bow via Sony’s digital platform Crackle. In the UK, Sky 3D and Sky Arts HD will air both the 3D and 3D versions of the new season of the show, which will feature artists including The Shins and Feist.

The show was originally created by Radiohead producer Godrich along with producers Dilly Gent, James Chads and John Woollcombe. Previous guests have included Iggy and The Stooges, The White Stripes, Sonic Youth and Queens of the Stone Age.

“We consider From The Basement to be the definitive show for music fans, and we couldn’t be prouder to feature past and upcoming seasons of the series to our viewers,” said Eric Berger, executive vice president, digital networks, Sony Pictures Television.
