Telemundo to remake Globo novela

US Spanish-language broadcaster Telemundo is to produce a local version of Globo TV International’s novela Fina Estampa (Stylish Impression).

This marks the latest coproduction deal between the two companies after the success of The Clone, which was sold into 50 countries.

Fina Estampa launched earlier this year in Brazil with a 68% audience share. The story, by Aguinaldo Silva, follows Griselda, a hardworking mother of three who becomes a repairwoman after her husband disappears and wins the lottery.

The US version will start pre-production later this summer and will be produced in Miami. Telemundo Internacional and Globo TV International will share international distribution rights.

“This telenovela has all the necessary ingredients to captivate the US Hispanic market, as well as telenovela fans around the world,” said Marcos Santana, president of Telemundo Internacional.

“We believe that with the creativity and effort of both companies, we will make an even greater version of Fina Estampa. We are very happy to be partnering once again with Telemundo on this second co-production,” added Raphael Correa Netto, head of international sales of Globo.
