Ryan Kavanaugh’s Relativity eyes scripted TV push

Relativity Media, the Hollywood studio founded by Ryan Kavanaugh, is looking to move into scripted television following the success of its unscripted business.

Tom Forman, chief executive officer of RelativityREAL, the studio’s reality division, told TBI that it was looking to turn a number of its hit feature films including fantasy feature Immortals, action drama Haywire and Limitless, which starred Bradley Cooper, into long running TV series.

The company is currently working on scripted pilots for broadcast network Fox and cable broadcaster Lifetime.

RelativityREAL produces a raft of hit reality formats for cable networks including The Great Food Truck Race for Food Network and The American Bible Challenge for GSN. Bravo also recently commissioned a workplace series – Huh? – following icanhascheezburger.com founder Ben Huh.

The firm also has overall deals with a number of actor producers including That 70s Show star Wilmer Valderrama and High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale. Forman added that it was keen to close more of these deals as it ramps up both its unscripted and scripted businesses.
