US Cable Upfronts 2012: Nat Geo announces entertainment focus

National Geographic Channel is launching a raft of new reality and competition series as it looks to ramp up the network’s entertainment programming.

The broadcaster has announced four new series as part of its first Upfronts presentation run by new president Howard Owens and CEO David Lyle.

The channel will launch K Sirrah Productions’ American Chainsaw, which follows chainsaw sculptor Jesse Green, Leftfield’s demolition series Bid & Destroy, Brain Games, which is produced inhouse, and Firecracker Films’ Jersey Combat, which centres around a military warehouse.

These series join Original Productions’ Are You Tougher Than A Boy Scout? and Pilgrim Studio’s Wild Tuna on the network’s latest programming slate.
