US Cable Upfronts 2012: Fuse

US cable network Fuse has ordered a raft of music-based series as part of its latest slate.

The network, which was formerly owned by Rainbow Media and is now owned by Madison Square Garden, has commissioned eight new series as part of its drive to expand its original productions.

It has ordered four scripted series including Radio Free, a comedy about a group of students at a college radio station in the 1980s, which is exec produced by R.E.M frontman Michael Stipe; Blaze Studios,  a behind-the-scenes look at the people who run a recording studio, written by Home Improvement’s Tracy Gamble; Dakota Pictures’ viral comedy Major and a mockumentary series produced by 24 star Eric Balfour and Off The Grid Entertainment about a young band struggling to make it in LA.

Reality series that the broadcaster has ordered includes Ambassadors of Rock, produced by 2 Way Mirror, hip hop series Bounce, produced by Rupaul’s Drag Race-producer World of Wonder, clip show Off Beat, produced by FishBowl Worldwide Media and Warped Roadies, a behind-the-scenes look at the roadies on the punk rock tour produced by Magilla Entertainment.
