Dutch producer and distributor Talpa Media is launching a kids version of its smash hit musical talent series The Voice and is bringing it to MIP TV.
The Voice Kids recently launched in Holland and the John De Mol-owned company has high hopes that the junior version of the show can replicate the success of the main show.
“It’s only been on air in Holland for a few weeks but is a huge hit. People may see it as a spin-off but it’s been a natural progression and feels like a stand-alone show. It’s shorter and although it’s a competition, it has elements focusing on the well-being of the kids,” says Talpa Distribution managing director Maarten Meijs.
Talpa is also launching a handful of additional musical formats including The Winner Is… and Mad for Music in Cannes; The Winner Is… sees singers in a range of eight different categories compete in singing duels judged by a panel of 100 music lovers headed up by one well-known music expert, while Mad for Music is a musical gameshow.
Other shows that the company is launching including wedding formats Welcome To My Wedding and Let’s Get Married as well as Challenge Me and modelling competition The Face.
