RTL to launch new free-to-air channel

German commercial broadcaster RTL is to launch a new free-to-air channel at the beginning of April.

RTL Nitro will target males aged 20-59 and will air a mix of movies, crime drama series and comedy shows.

Series to be aired on the channel include Modern Family, Nurse Jackie, Rome, 24 and the US version of The Office.

The channel will be available via the Astra satellite platform and RTL will also launch a seven-day catch-up on-demand service, RTLNitroNow.de.
