Fox launches new Asian movie channel

Fox International Channels is launching a new movie channel across Asia and an online pay TV streaming platform.

The News Corp-backed broadcaster is launching Fox Movies Premium in Hong Kong and South East Asia. It will replace Star Movies, although the Star Movies brand will continue in Taiwan and the Philippines. The channel will air a raft of Hollywood movies as well as premium series, live events and documentaries.

In addition, the company is launching an online TV player called Fox Movies Premium Play, which will allow subscribers to watch these movies and series on the computers, smartphones and tablet devices.

“Fox Movies Premium complements FIC’s unmatched portfolio of channels,” said Zubin Gandevia, chief operating officer, Fox International Channels, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. “Fox Movies Premium is breaking the chains that used to tie us all to our living room televisions and taking content wherever people want to watch it.”
