US network ABC has picked up Dick de Rijk’s gameshow You Deserve It.
The US broadcaster has ordered six episodes of the format after striking a deal with distributor SevenOne International.
The format sees contestants competing for cash prizes, the twist being that the prize is not for themselves, but a friend, relative or associate who deserves the money.
It is produced by Red Arrow Entertainment, Deal or No Deal creator de Rijk and the US version will be produced in association with Kinetic Content, the ProSiebenSat.1-backed US production company set up by former RDF exec Chris Coelen.
“Getting a network series launched in the US is always a big deal. Being able to say that Red Arrow’s creative partner, distribution team and local production company made it happen makes this one all the more satisfying. This is another exciting breakthrough for our young group,” says Jan Frouman, group managing director, Red Arrow Entertainment Group.
