BBCWW hires first regional Lat Am boss

BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the British public broadcaster, has hired former Ole Communications exec Fred Medina to become its first executive vice president, Latin America.

The move marks the international arm of the BBC to launch new brands in the region and increase its focus on regional opportunities.

Medina, who was previously executive vice president, corporate business development at pan regional media firm Ole and has also worked at Univision, MTV and HBO in the region, will be in charge of strategic development in Latin America and will report to Jana Bennett, president, worldwide networks. He starts on September 12.

BBC Worldwide said that it would see similar roles created across its other key markets including in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Asia and Australia and New Zealand.
