US cable network A+E is looking to expand its scripted programming push.
This follows the success of The Glades, which has been renewed for a second season.
The network greenlit pilots for two new dramas – Warner Horizon-produced Longmire and Sony Pictures Television-produced Big Mike – earlier this year.
Bob DeBitetto, president and general manager of the A&E Network, told TBIvision that it was also looking to expand beyond crime procedurals and was looking for fresh ideas.
“Self contained crime procedurals are obviously big but I’m [also] looking for shows that break the mould. We can reserve a share [of the schedule] to find breakout hits for something fresh like The Walking Dead,” he said.
DeBitetto added: “We’ve got three original dramas next year and if successful I’ll add a fourth.”
