BBC Worldwide closes Radiohead sales

US cable network MTV has inked a deal with BBC Worldwide that will see it acquire a raft of music programming including Radiohead: The King of Limbs – Live From The Basement.

The one-off music special, which sees the British band play their latest album live, will air on MTV’s high definition music channel Palladia. MTV also acquired highlights from Glastonbury 2011 and BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2011 from the commercial arm of the public broadcaster.

MTV is the latest international broadcaster to pick up Radiohead: The King of Limbs – Live From The Basement after the distributor closed deals with Japan’s Fuji TV, Spain’s Canal+, Brazil’s MultiShow and Canada’s SuperChannel.

However, the performance has not gone out yet in the UK after the BBC decided against airing it. The band posted on their website: “Apologies for the delay in getting From The Basement shown in the UK; the original broadcaster [the BBC] decided not to show it, but we are working on it getting shonw on another channel.”
