Turner hires MySpace boss to run UK

Turner has recruited Anthony Lukom, former managing director of MySpace UK, as general manager of its UK and Ireland operation.

Lukom will run Turner’s UK and Ireland channels, which include Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Cartoonito, Turner Classic Movies and Adult Swim. He will also oversee programme sales for Turner content, including and Turner and Dreamworks sci-fi series Falling Skies.

Lukom is essentially replacing Dee Forbes, who left Turner to join Discovery Networks in 2009.

The ex MySpace exec has been running the UK operation in an acting role since last year. He reports to Pete Flamman, Turner’s senior VP and general manager, Northern Europe.

Prior to MySpace, Lukom was head of business development at AOL.

He said: “Turner is a company which has long recognised and capitalised upon changes in the media landscape, originally as a pioneer in the cable business and right now as a leading player in the development of TV Everywhere services. As the boundaries between being a media owner and a digital distributor blur, Turner Broadcasting is an exciting place to be in this age of convergence.”
