BBC Worldwide inks raft of Discop deals

BBC Worldwide sold a raft of programmes to broadcasters in Central and Eastern Europe at the Discop market in Budapest last week.

Sony Pictures Television acquired a 70hr package of content for its CEE pay TV networks from BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the UK public broadcaster. Titles include hit BBC drama series Sherlock, Hustle and series renewals for Doctor Who, Torchwood and Primeval

Hungarian free-to-air channel MTV has also acquired a 70hr package. In its case the line-up of titles includes Ashes to Ashes, Luther and Sherlock.

Fox International Channels has picked up a 60hr drama package for its channels in Russia, CIS and the Baltics. Programmes in the package include Luther, Sherlock and two season of Whitechapel.

Worldwide has also sold Masterchef into Russia for the first time to free-to-air broadcaster Channel One.

There were also deals for Worldwide’s slate of kids shows with Ukrainian broadcaster TET buying the entire series of Teletubbies and Tweenies.
