DCD launches new factual division

International producer and distributor DCD Media is launching a current affairs factual division to produce fast turnaround documentaries.

The company has hired Dispatches and Cutting Edge director Marc Sigsworth to head up the division, which will produce documentaries and current affairs series from its Welsh production arm Prospect Cymru.

This comes after Channel 4 announced further investment for its nations and regions scheme as it looks to produce more programming outside of London.

“David [Abrahams], quite rightly wants see more suppliers from outside the M25. Prospect with its Cardiff base is well placed to become a substantial player in topical programming made outside London,” said DCD creative director Charles Thompson.

Sigsworth, who has also worked at Mentorn and Steadfast, will be joined by assistant producer Vikki Miller, who has also worked on documentaries including Undercover Hospital and Rape in the City.
