MTG inks pan-Scandi deal with Fox

Modern Times Group has agreed a four-year programming deal with Fox. The deal gives the pan-Scandinavian broadcaster free TV rights to Fox TV series and movies across the region and MTG said it was the first deal of its kind as it also includes online and mobile rights to the content in question.

The deal runs for four years from 2012 and gives MTG first-run rights to all Fox content produced from start of next year. It has also picked up a raft of Fox TV movies, miniseries and library shows. Movies included in the deal include Black Swan, Gulliver’s Travels and various older titles.

The Fox content will be available on the TV3, TV3 HD, TV6, TV8, TV3+, TV3+ HD, Viasat4, TV3 Puls and TV10 channels. The same selection will also be available via web-connected devices from ‘Viaplay’, which includes free-TV catch-up services and pay TV video-on-demand services.

“This agreement not only further strengthens our linear programming schedule, but also enhances our ever-increasing offering of online streamed content,” said Hans-Holger Albrecht, president and CEO of MTG. “This is a groundbreaking deal for both Fox and MTG and we are proud to be the first to have structured such a deal in Scandinavia.”
