US cable upfronts 2011: TNT unveils 10 new scripted series

US cable net TNT has unveiled a raft of new dramas that are in development and new reality series from movie producer Joel Silver and Ridley Scott.

The Turner-owned cable station unveiled a drama development slate comprising ten new shows.

Highlights include CBS Television Studios’ Scent of the Missing, about a search and rescue officer and her partner, a Labrador dog. Also form CBS is Enigma, a mystery-of-the-week type series from CSI creator Anthony Zuiker.

There are two series from Warner Bros. cable TV production unit Warner Horizon Television. Gateway is a US Civil War drama and there is also an untitled cop drama from Eric Garcia (Matchstick Men) and exec produced by McG (Terminator Salvation).

Gangs of New York screenwriter Jay Cocks also has an as-yet-untitled series for TNT about a reporter turned private eye. It will be made by Rizzoli & Isles producer Ostar Productions.

Other new scripted series include action series Snatched, elite New York cop series The Command and an untitled John Wells Productions’ cop drama.

The Joel Silver reality series based on an idea from Phil Gurin (Shark Tank) and will be produced by Warner Horizon. Described as The Bourne Identity -meets-The Truman Show, it drops contestants in the middle of fictional major incidents and they must unravel who they are and what is going on against the clock.

Ridley Scott and David Zucker reality series Shooters is a talent search for the best director, with the winner setting up their own production company. It will be produced by Scott’s Scott Free.
