Nordic production group Northern Alliance buys Nice Entertainment

Northern Alliance has acquired Stockholm-based drama producer Nice Entertainment. Nice will become the Nordic production group’s hub for scripted programming and aims to build a library of TV rights for Nordic and international markets.

Northern Alliance CEO, Morten Aass said the deal marked the first stage of the group’s expansion in the scripted area.

“Nice is the perfect Swedish complement to our strong drama bases in Norway and Finland, and we see great opportunities for developing and implementing drama coproductions across the Scandinavian region and with other European partners,” he said.

Northern Alliance was created in 2009 when private equity outfit Capman merged its three Scandinavian production companies and acquired Swedish producer Baluba. It comprises Danish producer Gong, Norwegian producer Monster and Finnish production company Moskito Group.

It recently inked a distribution deal with Nordic World, which sells formats of Northern Alliance shows internationally.
