Dunsford leaves JimJam

Wayne Dunsford has left international preschool broadcaster JimJam.

Dunsford, who was general manager of the kids channel, has moved to subtitling company Broadcast Text International as managing director.

“We confirm Wayne Dunsford is leaving Chello Zone at the end of the month to pursue a new opportunity as MD.  We are sorry to see him go and wish him all the very best in his new role,” said Dermot Shortt, CEO of Chello Zone. His duties will be taken on by the Sales team, with Louise Cottrell, VP Affiliate Sales, at the helm.”

This comes as JimJam launches an older-skewing block in Italy for the first time as it looks to expand its audience.

The broadcaster, which operates channels in 58 territories and has 15 million subscribers, is launching the older-skewing block on Sky Italia and hopes that it will appeal to the siblings of its existing preschool viewers.

It is also considering rolling out the block across its network of international channels. JimJam was originally formed as a joint venture between Chello Zone and Hit Entertainment but the kids producer and distributor sold its stake to the Liberty Global-owned operator in September.
