TLC says it will hit 100m international subs by end-2011

The international TLC channel will be in 100 million homes by end-2011, according to Discovery Networks International. Discovery said the channel, which is now a year old, will launch in the Netherlands in July, adding another seven million TV homes to its footprint. Operators carrying the channel in the country include UPC Netherlands.

When TLC launched internationally last March, on Norwegian pay TV services Canal Digital, GET and Lyse, Discovery said it would be in 100 million homes by this spring. It now says it will hit that mark by year-end.

It is currently carried in eight European and 25 Asian markets and in about 50 million TV homes.

“The launch of TLC in the Netherlands continues the strong momentum from the 33 markets we’ve launched to date,” said Mark Hollinger, President and CEO of Discovery Networks International.  TLC’s early ratings success is encouraging and we remain focused on continuing to grow TLC into a truly global female-driven brand and a strong complement to our flagship Discovery Channel.”
