Shine closes Asian MasterChef deals, promotes Farrokh

A number of Asian versions of MasterChef are set to air after distributor Shine International closed local format deals.

The company has also promoted Cyrus Farrokh to director of international distribution, Asia after he brokered these deals.

Malaysia’s Astro All Asia Entertainment is to launch local versions of the cooking format in Malaysia and Brunei, while ABS-CBN will produce a version in the Philippines.

This takes the number of countries producing original versions of the series to 20 including Australia, France, Germany, India, the United States and the UK, where it launched.

Farrokh was previously manager of international distribution and will report to EVP, international distribution John Pollack from the Los Angeles office.
