OWN to remake Swedish makeover format

US cable broadcaster OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network is to remake a Swedish reality format after striking a deal with Banijay-owned production company Angel City Factory and Scandinavian formats house Strix.

The network, which launched earlier this month, is to launch a US version of Home Delivery, an entertainment format that follows two home makeover experts. The US version, which will be known as Home Takeover with Simon & Tomas, will launch in March and will feature designers Simon Davies and Tomas Cederlund.

The deal is the first international format reversioned by the broadcaster, which is a joint venture between Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions and Discovery Communications.

The show, which originally aired on TV3 Sweden, will be produced by Angel City Factory, the US production company that was set up in July 2009 by Banijay Entertainment with Chris Cowan and Jean-Michel Michenaud, the creators of Temptation Island and My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiancé.

Mia Engström, director of Strix International, said: “This is the first US launch for a Strix format and we are delighted to be working with the executives from Angel City Factory and OWN on this project.”
