NATPE News: Distributors close Lat Am deals

A raft of international distributors have closed a number of major Latin American deals at NATPE including FremantleMedia closing local deals for The X Factor and BBC Worldwide packaging wildlife documentaries.

Chile’s TVN is to produce a local version of the FremantleMedia Enterprises talent format, while Sony is rolling out the tenth season of American Idol, with new judges including Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, across the region.

Sony Pictures Entertainment Networks Latin America has also picked up Pretty Tough, The Cut and Freak Encounters after striking a volume deal with Fireworks International.

Discovery Latin America has bought FremantleMedia’s Project Runway and Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations as well as 100 hours of programming from Zodiak Rights, while Turner Latin America has picked up season three of Deadliest Warrior and three seasons of 1000 Ways To Die.

Mexican broadcaster TV Azteca has acquired a raft of BBC Worldwide wildlife titles including David Attenborough’s Life in Cold Blood, Planet Earth and Walking with Dinosaurs.
