Exclusive: All3Media launching a new US division

Having hired Wayne Garvie as managing director of international production and added former CBS president Nancy Tellem as a non-exec director, All3Media is preparing to launch a new US division.

Several of the UK-based super-indie’s production companies have already set up shop in the US, but it is now planning to launch a division that will provide support to these and its other production brands that are planning to set up in the States.

All3Media CEO Steve Morrison will outline the plans in more detail in a one-on-one interview at NATPE in Miami on Monday, 24th January.

Ahead of his NATPE session, Morrison told TBIvision: “We are a family of companies and I think we can become one of the most creative group of programme makers in the US market. We hope that given our track record, that US channels will want to work with us and that we can provide another, valuable stream of creativity in that market.”

Garvie, who is widely credited with overseeing the successful international roll out of Dancing with the Stars while at BBC Worldwide, will coordinate the unit’s activities and ensure the flow and exchange of content from the international divisions to the US and vice versa.

Each All3Media production brand will retain its own identity with the support of the All3Media USA unit. Lion, Optomen and Studio Lambert already have US offices and several other All3 companies are expected to set up shop this year.

Company Pictures is among those hoping to set up in the States. It is coproducing the US version of teen drama series Skins, which successfully debuted with 3.3 million viewers on MTV this week. In addition, House of Anubis produced by Lime Pictures launched on Nickelodeon with an impressive 2.4 million viewers.

The One-on-One with Steve Morrison, part of the Thought Leadership strand, takes place Monday 24th between 1.30 and 2.00pm
