TF1 inks output deal with Nick

French commercial broadcaster TF1 has acquired Nickelodeon’s Victorious series and is opening up slots on its kids service Tfou to live action.

The channel was previously programmed with animation with the occasional locally-produced live action comedy or magazine show. The output deal with MTV Networks International gives it a range of Nick shows and TF1 wants to use Victorious and other live-action shows to bring in tween viewers.

“Live-action talks more now to our upper target. Victorious is the perfect show as it mixes music, humour and friends ,” said Yann Labasque, who succeeded to Dominique Poussier last October as head of TF1’s kids and youth unit.

TF1 Enterprises, which includes TF1 Musique, will also be involved into the global merchandising and ancillary exploitation of the series and its original songs.
