A&E eyes Latin remakes of US hits

A&E Ole Networks, the Latin American arm of the US cable network, is looking to roll out local versions of a number of its hit reality series, including Intervention, across the region.

The company, which is a joint venture with Ole Communications, has produced eight episodes of GRB Entertainment’s drug rehabilitation series Intervention in Mexico that are set to launch in the first quarter of this year.

Eddy Ruiz, EVP and general manager, A&E Ole Networks, told TBIvision: “Depending on its success we’ll roll it out to other countries.”

The broadcaster has also lined up four new projects based on its US catalog  that it is waiting to greenlight. Other big hits for the US network include Hoarders, detective series The First 48 and Parking Wars.

A&E is currently available in 32 million homes across Latin America, while History is in 34 million homes and Bio is in 15 million homes. The company launched a high definition version of History last year and is launching an HD version of Bio this year.
