Nat Geo Kids lures Back

Nat Geo Kids have hired former Handmade execs Debbie Back and Jennifer Liang. This follows the collapse of the joint venture between the two companies.

Last October, Nat Geo and Handmade, the film company originally set up by Beatle George Harrison, set up a joint venture kids production company. However, following Handmade’s acquisition by Almorah Services, the US$26 million joint venture collapsed.

Back, who was previously in charge of international sales at MTV Networks International, will become head of worldwide sales for National Geographic Kids Entertainment, while Liang will become senior director, sales and strategy.

This comes as Nat Geo Kids received an order for a third season of its live action kids series Are We There Yet? The 39x7mins show, which is produced by Sinking Ship Entertainment, has been renewed by Canadian broadcasters Treehouse and CBC.
