Spain’s Vertice acquires US producer

Spanish producer and distributor Vertice 360 has acquired a stake in US production company Powwow Media Partners as it looks to expand its US Hispanic and Latin American business.

The company, which is a collection of Spanish production companies including Telson, Telespan, Notro Television and CIN.TV, has bought a 50% stake in Powwow, which is based in Miami. Powwow holds a number of Spanish-language rights for formats including Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, Temptation Island and Survivor.

Vertice, which launched its international TV distribution arm at Mip TV in April, is looking to expand its formats in the States, particularly formats including The Ant Hill, Eva’s Fishbowl, A Matter Of Sex and The Mata Family.

Powwow Media Partners, which will be rebranded 360Powwow, was set up by advertising executive Daniel Gutman and have worked with a number of US Hispanic broadcasters including Telemundo as well as networks in Latin America.
