Garvie leaves Worldwide for All3Media

BBC Worldwide has confirmed that Wayne Garvie, its high-profile managing director, content and production, is leaving the company to join super-indie All3Media.

Garvie has been at Worldwide, the commercial division of UK public broadcaster the BBC, since 2006, before which he was head of the entertainment group at the BBC. Before that he was at Granada.

Worldwide said that Helen Jackson, director of the indies unit, will take on Garvie’s role while BBC looks for a full-time replacement.

Durig his time at Worldwide it has bought into indies including Big Talk, Baby Cow and Left Bank and set up Tower Productions, a German joint venture with Garvie’s new employers All3Media.

“He goes with our gratitude for all he has done, particularly in establishing our international production base and taking fantastic shows such as Dancing with the Stars to the world, ” said  BBC Worldwide CEO John Smith said.  “He leaves in place a very strong team to lead our Content and Production business while we search for a successor.”
