MTV to produce Spanish version of The Buried Life

MTV’s Spanish network is launching a local version of hit US docu-reality series The Buried Life after striking a deal with distributor Shine International.

The Spanish broadcaster is currently casting for the show, which is based on the Reveille-produced series that follows four men who are travelling across the United States trying to complete a list of 100 things to die before they die.

“MTV Spain is doing a local version. They’re going out now looking for the Spanish four, they don’t want to cast them and stick four guys together, they’re looking for an existing group. The four [original] guys are actively involved in the Spanish version,” says Shine’s John Pollak, EVP, Shine International.

The Buried Life
stars Duncan, Ben, Dave and Jonnie and some of the tasks they attempted to do include playing basketball with President Obama and crashing the Playboy Mansion. In each episode they also return the favour and help others achieve something that they want to do.

The series has been a hit in the States, where MTV has renewed it for a second season. Shine International has also sold the tape to a raft of international broadcasters including Australia’s Foxtel, Kanal 5 in Sweden, Brazil’s Globosat and Turner Latin America.
