ITV inks Monk and movie deal with NBCU

British commercial broadcaster ITV has inked a multi-year movie deal with Hollywood studio NBC Universal and acquired long running cop series Monk.

The deal, which was struck with the studio’s international sales arm NBC Universal International Television Distribution, will see ITV air a raft of movies including Mama Mia, The Bourne Identity and Johnny Depp’s Public Enemies.

The broadcaster will also run police procedural Monk as part of its daytime schedule as part of the agreement. Monk, which was produced by NBC Universal Television Studio in association with ABC Studios’ Touchstone Television, ran between 2002 and 2009 on USA Network is one of the highest rated scripted dramas ever to air on US cable.

The show has previously aired in the UK via public broadcaster BBC Two and Hallmark Channel.
