Disney XD buys Australian kids drama Lockie Leonard

The US Disney XD channel has picked up Australian-produced kids series Lockie Leonard. It will launch on the channel this June.

The live-action comedy series is produced by Australia’s Goalpost Pictures and distributed by The Australian Children’s Television Foundation (ACTF). Disney XD has acquired the second season of the show, which is set on the coast of western Australia.

“The sale to Disney XD is a great break through for us as the USA is always a tough market to crack for Australian shows.” said Jenny Buckland, CEO, ACTF.

“We feel this series delivers on many of our core Disney XD brand values for our key demographic, boys 6-14.”   Tracy McAndrew, Director Acquisitions & Co-Productions, Worldwide Programming – Disney Channels Worldwide.
