ABC and BBC order more Scorpion Island from RDF

Australian public broadcaster ABC TV and its UK counterpart the BBC have ordered two more seasons of live-action kids series Scorpion Island. RDF, which distributes the show also announced new international deals for the gameshow in which 11-to-13 year olds compete to escape from an exotic island.

The series is produced by RDF-owned The Foundation. The two new 13x60mins series will go out this year and next on ABC TV and BBC kids channel CBBC. BBC Worldwide-backed Australian producer Freehand will coproduce the upcoming series.

The new series will be produced in Australia, like all but the first season, which was shot in Brazil.

As well as the UK and Australian deals RDF said it had sold the second and third series to Canadian kids channel YTV and Al Jazeera in the Middle East.
