Sky buys Michael Eisner’s Glenn Martin DDS

UK pay TV channel Sky1 has acquired animated series Glenn Martin DDS from Tornante, the company backed by former Disney boss Michael Eisner.

Sky1, the flagship entertainment channel of News Corp-backed UK pay TV operator BSkyB, said it will put the first episode of the series out on March 11 in a 9.30pm slot.

The show follows the Martin family, headed by the father, Glenn, a well-meaning, but clueless dentist.

The series is produced by Tornante-owned Vuguru and has already been sold to Nickelodeon in the US and aired on its Nick at Nite block. It has also been picked up by CityTV in Canada among others.

The BSkyB deal was brokered for Tornante by Doug Miller, who was previously Disney’s TV chief in Asia, and by Sky’s senior acquisitions executive Louisa Forsyth.
