Warners launches VOD service in Poland

Warner Bros. has launched its first branded TV service in central and eastern Europe, rolling out WarnerTV on the Onet.pl Polish Internet platform.

As well as launching the subscription WarnerTV service, Warner Bros. is also supplying content for Onet.pl’s own video-on-demand service, which allows users to access movies and series via the Internet at vod.onet.pl.

Warner Bros. TV series on the vod.onet.pl. will include comedy The Big Bang Theory and teen drama Gossip Girl, with episodes available shortly after their US airing.

The WarnerTV service, which can be accessed via the vod.onet.pl. portal, will have TV series including Friends, ER and Fringe as well as a large slate of movies including The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Harry Potter films.

Warner Bros. has been actively rolling out the WarnerTV offering in recent times, launching it as a linear channel across Asia last November and as a branded SVOD services on the Elisa Viihde pay TV service operated by Finnish telco Elisa last December.

Onet.pl is owned by Polish media group TVN. Warner Bros. already has a regular TV output deal with TVN and supplies its series and movies to the group’s linear channels.
