Spike TV ramps up original series with new reality orders

US cable network Spike TV continues its charge into original programming with the commission of two quirky reality series – Half Pint Brawlers and Scrappers.

The MTV-owned broadcaster is launching 6x30mins Half Pint Brawlers, which follows the wild antics of midget wrestling, The Jackass-meets-Little People, Big World style show, which is produced by The Idea Factory and Lumberjack Crew, follows the wrestlers in the ring as well as their partying lifestyle outside of it.

It has also commissioned 10x30mins unscripted series Scrappers, which follows a pair of characters trying to become the Scrap Kings of Brooklyn. The show is produced by Hoosick Falls Productions and will be exec produced by George Verschoor.

Spike TV has been ramping up its original series orders recently; it commissioned a talk show Manformation (working title) produced by Thom Beers’ Original Productions and also renewed Original’s hit docu-drama 1000 Ways To Die.
