ProSieben expanding internationally with Red Arrow

ProSiebenSat.1 has created Red Arrow Entertainment, a new entity that will house all of its production and distribution companies. The German-based broadcast group said Red Arrow will also be used as a vehicle for international expansion as part of an initiative to expand production and distribution activities around the world.

ProSieben said: “Red Arrow plans to acquire and launch television production companies across and outside the group’s 12-country footprint and to establish development partnerships with leading creative talent from around the world.” It added: “Over and above local productions, Red Arrow will be investing in formats and scripted shows with strong international appeal and sales potential.”

The new company will be headed by group managing director Jan Frouman and group directors will include Jens Richter, the head of ProSieben’s international sales arm SevenOne.

The creation of Red Arrow is the culmination of ProSieben’s various content initiatives following the merger with SBS Broadcasting in 2007. It set up Munich-based light entertainment producer Red Seven in May 2008 and late last year inaugurated Magic Flight Film, a TV movie production division.
