CTV, Space and FIC renew The Listener

Canadian broadcasters CTV and Space and international channel operator Fox International Channels (FIC) have renewed sci-fi series The Listener for a second season despite the show not being renewed by US network NBC.

The series, which is produced by Canada’s Shaftesbury Films, was one of the high profile Canadian series to get a US network launch. However, as a result of poor ratings, the network decided against being involved for a second season.

CTV and Space will air the series in Canada next year, while FIC will launch across its network of international channels.

The show is distributed internationally by Shine International.

Andie Raab, director, content development, Fox International Channels, told TBIvision that the companies were still searching for a new US partner. “NBC [won’t] be involved so they’re shopping for a US deal,” she said.
