BBC recommission Lion to make more Horrible Histories

All3Media-owned UK indie producer Lion TV has been recommissioned by British public broadcaster the BBC to make seasons two and three of comedy series Horrible Histories.

This further cements the factual producer’s move into the comedy field.

The company will make two further seasons of the comedy sketch show, which aired on BBC One and kids channel CBBC.

“We’ve been commissioned to make series two and three. Suddenly we’re in comedy and we’re allowed to laugh,” Lion TV managing director Nick Catliff told TBIvision.

The 30mins series, which is based on the successful kids books, is distributed by BBC Worldwide.

Lion is also in production with gameshow format Hold Tight, which forces celebrities including Jordan, to answer questions while they are on crazy rollercoasters at themepark Thorpe Park. The show, which is hosted by Duncan from boyband Blue, will launch on UKTV-owned Watch next year. “We did Cash Cab, which was a quizshow in a taxi cab, and this is a gameshow on rides,” adds joint MD Richard Bradley.
