ITV Studios opens Spanish arm

ITV Studios, the content arm of UK broadcaster ITV, has opened a Spanish production subsidiary and secured a two-hour pilot order from free-to-air channel Telecinco. The Madrid-based unit will be run by Fran Garcia and will add to ITV’s existing local production bases in the UK, US, Germany, Sweden and Australia.

ITV Studios said that its Spanish arm will focus on creating new formats and bringing those in the ITV catalogue to Spanish audiences. It did not give details of the Telecinco pilot.

ITV also confirmed the sale of 450 hours of programming to Telecinco, which will use the content across its digital channels. The deal covers drama, factual and entertainment shows and titles include Nanny 911 and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
