CBS and DreamWorks making US version of UK drama Wire in the Blood

CBS and DreamWorks are understood to be making a US version of UK crime drama Wire in the Blood.

The series aired for six seasons on UK commercial channel ITV1 and US website The Wrap, which first reported the news, says that the show’s original exec producer, Sandra Jobling, is on board the US version.

CSI: Miami and Californication writer Ildy Modrovich is also attached to the show and Terry McDonough will direct. The series will reportedly air on CBS at the end of this year.

The UK version has already been transmitted on BBC Worldwide’s US channel, BBC America.

The show pairs up a male clinical psychologist and hardnosed female detective. It is based upon characters created by novelist Val McDermid.

ITV cancelled the series this year, partly because of the high production costs involved.
