Capote producer sets up TV production company

Movie producer Michael Ohoven has set up an La-based TV production company Infinity Television. The new entity will be part of Infinity Media, owned by Ohoven, the producer of Capote and a slew of other movies. It will headed by LA-based British writer/producer Paul Pender.

The company said its TV division will develop and produce scripted and unscripted projects in ‘market segments outside the realm of the major studios’. It will work on comedies, dramas, TV movies and reality shows and said it will unveil a handful of projects soon.

Ohoven said: “Television is the logical next step for our company. We already have great relationships all across town through the features we’ve made and now we feel ready to expand those relationships into the television arena.”

Pender has produced numerous TV series and won an Academy Award for his work on the BBC adaptation of Franz Kafka’s It’s a Wonderful Life.

“The Infinity TV division will be writer-friendly, because in TV – even so-called reality television – it’s all about the writing and the structure,” Pender said. “The emphasis of Infinity’s TV division will of course be on entertainment, but Michael has a strong social commitment and a few of the projects we are developing have strong social relevance appropriate to these challenging times.”
