Diller’s IAC launches TV production arm

InterActiveCorp, the media and internet company run by Barry Diller, is set to launch a TV production company run by CollegeHumor.com’s Ricky Van Veen.

It has launched Notional, which will focus on producing male skewing unscripted programming, to take advantage of CollegeHumor’s rising profile.

CollegeHumor found success with a mix of user generated video clips and original productions including web series such as Street Fighter: The Later Years and Jake and Amir. It also produced The College Humor Show for MTV, a doc series that looked at the crazy working environment of the web startup.

This move marks the first time an online video arm has been transformed into a traditional TV production company and also marks a return to TV production for former Fox chief Diller.

Van Veen will work alongside president of television Dave Noll, who previously worked for US production company City Lights Media, which produced series such as the Travel Channel’s 21 Sinful Vegas Hot Spots and the Food Network’s Chopped.

The company’s first production is expected to launch this fall.
