FIC sets off distribution deal with Fireworks

Fox International Channels has struck a distribution deal with Fireworks International to sell its collection of web series including Single Dads.

The deal will allow Fireworks to distribute FIC’s FoxBytes online projects – which also includes animation series Security 7 and stop motion animation Dito – once they have aired on Fox International Channels collection of sites.

Jonathan Ford, SVP, digital acquisitions and distribution, Fireworks International, says that its licenses will begin in November. “FIC created this short form content to develop its brands. They made an investment and wanted to further monetize that.”

He said that he is initially targeting territories including the United States. “There’s markets where FIC isn’t in, most notably the United States, Canada, Scandinavia and Australia,” adds Ford.

Single Dads, which follows comedians Peter Karinen and Brian Sacca as they attempt fatherhood, has also been given a second season and Fox International Channels has two further projects in development. Sharon Tal Yguado, VP, development, FIC, says that 75% of its web series have long form potential and once they launch later this year it will decide which of the two to three series to move into TV development.
