Endemol inks content deal with Manchester City FC

Endemol Sport, the producer and distributor’s recently launched sports division, has inked a deal with Manchester City FC to produce a range of programming for the soccer club.

Endemol will produce match day coverage of games, online content, sports entertainment programming based on the club and shows for international programming blocks as the club looks to expand its worldwide presence and build its international fan base.

The club was recently purchased by Abu Dhabi United Group Investment and Development Limited, a UAE-based private equity company owned by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a member of the Abu Dhabi royal family, leading to increased investment.

Endemol launched its sport division last year following the appointment of former Benchmark Capital boss Ynon Kreiz as CEO. The company has already inked a deal to produce content for the digital channel of Dutch soccer league Eredivisie and has recruited former England soccer star Gary Lineker as one of its hosts.
