Italy’s Mondo preps channel launch

Italy’s largest kids producer Mondo plans to use its massive library to launch its own channel in several countries next year, CEO Matteo Corradi tells TBIvision.

There has been no decision on the branding of the channel yet, but the plan is for it to roll out in Italy and several other countries.

“An area of our strategy is to make a channel,” Corradi says. “There’s a DTT revolution and we’d like to launch in North America, the Middle East and Italy. Our library is already dubbed into eight languages, we have already localised the content.”

Initially the channel will use content from Mondo’s 1000hr library. Corradi says: “You need about 600 hours of content a year. In order to develop a channel, in the first year we would just broadcast Mondo programming and then in the second year we would start airing third party programming.”
