Discovery to launch Scholey’s Wild Planet

Discovery Communications has inked a deal with Keith Scholey, former head of the BBC’s Natural History Unit, to produce a landmark factual series Wild Planet: North America.

The factual broadcaster has also agreed a multi-year deal with Scholey’s production company Wild Horizons.

The seven part Planet Earth-esque series will look at North America from the Arctic to Mexico, covering the wildlife mountains, forests, deserts, plains, coasts and rivers.

Scholey is known for creating BBC series Springwatch and Big Cats Diary and exec produce Blue Planet. He is also producing Big Cats – a theatrical film for Disney’s recently launched factual label Disneynature.
