AETN sells 9/11 special to France, Germany, UK

Channel 4 in the UK, France 5 and ZDF in Germany have all picked up 9/11 documentary special 102 Minutes that Changed America. Swedish free-to-air broadcaster TV4 also acquired the series, rounding off a host of MIP TV deals for AETN International.

The 1x102mins show was the highest rating special ever on AETN’s History channel in the US, where it aired commercial-free, and its international counterparts. It retells the events of 9/11 using footage gathered from members of the public using amateur video equipment, phones and other devices.

AETN also announced a host of other program deals sealed at MIP TV, which Sean Cohan, senior VP of international at AETN, said was the company’s “most successful program sales market ever.”

MTV3 in Finalnd and RTL Klub bought Steven Seagal reality series Steven Seagal: Lawman and seasons one and two of Ice Road Truckers were acquired by RTL-TVI and VTM in Belgium and Skai in Greece.
